Indosat Ooredoo Develop Digital-Based Education Program in Indonesia

The Five-Year Program "Indonesia Learning" by The Three Digital Pillars-Improvement of Education Process, Enhancement of Lecturers' Competence, and Provision of Digital Infrastructure

Jakarta, 27 November 2015 – As part of its transformation to become Indosat Ooredoo, the company expressed its commitment to improve the life quality of Indonesian community and to bring the digital world into its DNA. This commitment is characterized by its support towards digital-based education for the last five years.

Indosat Ooredoo will deepen it's educational pillar of CSR program "Indonesia Learning" which focuses on digital education. One of the initiatives of Indonesia Learning is a partnership with Hasri Ainun Habibie ORBIT Foundation and CREATE Foundation to implement CREATE CyberSchool With IOT (Internet of Things) in 65 pilot schools in five regions of Indonesia which are Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku - Papua.The CREATE Cyber School With IOT is a cloud-based learning platform developed by the CREATE Foundation to provide a quality learning facility for every student throughout Indonesia wherever they are by using digital technology.

Each of the pilot schools will be supported with a tablet that has been equipped with softwares and educational applications. In addition, Indosat Ooredoo will cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia to provide training to hundreds of teachers in Indonesia and improve their competence in order to provide the best digital education possible.

"Digital education initiatives in form of Indonesia Learning is one of many ways to implement our commitment to bring the digital world to everyone. With a five-year commitment to the program which has the value of $ 1 million, Indosat Ooredoo wants to create an interactive educational environment between teachers and students,"said President Director of Indosat Ooredoo, Alexander Rusli.

"We are honored to be able to announce our partnership with Hasri Ainun Habibie ORBIT Foundation and CREATE Foundation to support and implement CREATE CyberSchool With IOT," added Alexander Rusli.

Indosat Ooredoo aims to build the digital world as a way of developing education which could be accessed easily by children in Indonesia. And here, Indosat Ooredoo will play an active role to provide digital technology to become more accessible and affordable for education. This aligns with the idea of Education for All (EFA) launched by UNESCO, some time ago.

Indosat Ooredoo President Commissioner, Dr. Nasser Marafih, expressed that all community in Indonesia have high hopes in the digital world. "The people of Indonesia is expecting the benefits of the digital world to support their daily activities. In accordance with last week's announcement, Indosat Ooredoo has committed to increase access to digital technology for everyone. This digital education initiative is the first step towards creation of a digital ecosystem that support the improvement of national education and someday will be accessible for everyone,"said Nasser.

Anies Baswedan, Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, on the same occasion also expressed that the ministry welcomes and fully supports the commitment of Indosat Ooredoo through Indonesia Learning in utilizing the digital world to help to improve access and quality of education for the younger generation of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Founder & Head of Trustee of CREATE Foundation and Member of the Board of Trustees Hasri Ainun Habibie ORBIT Foundation, Ilham Habibie, mentioned that one of the products by CREATE Foundation is interactive multimedia teaching materials that has been used by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 3,600 schools throughout Indonesia.

"We have developed the cloud-based interactive digital education platform and we have conducted trials in our school as the laboratory for TechnoNatura CREATE CyberSchool with IOT (Internet of Things)," said Ilham. "The cooperation between Hasri Ainun Habibie ORBIT Foundation - CREATE Foundation with Indosat Ooredoo will accelerate further the transformation of education in Indonesia."

CREATE Cyberschool with IOT was developed by the Create Foundation. IOT is a new phenomenon in 2I century that will change the interaction, communication and education pattern in the community.
