10th Indosat Ooredoo Wireless Innovation Contest (IWIC) ‘Go Global’

10 years of consistency in developing the nation digital Talent

With #ChangetheWorld theme, IWIC involved international participants

Jakarta, 21st April 2016 – Since 2006, Indosat Ooredoo consistently present Indosat Ooredoo Wireless Innovation Contest (IWIC) to stimulate Indonesia young generation interest in digital world. This mobile application competition event also has purpose to fulfill the need of nation digital talent in the midst of high trend of online application usage nowadays.

In its 10th year, the IWIC Go Global to align digital talent Indonesia with international players through a competition of ideas and applications with #ChangetheWorld theme. This theme is used along the many mobile applications that are created to make people life easier.

Its consistence presence for a decade with total of 7,111 innovative ideas and mobile application, making IWIC one of well-known application competition program in Indonesia. Some of the works has become commercial applications that ease people life.

That success pushed the 10th IWIC this year to ‘go global’, to show global world that Indonesia is not just a user country but also developer of mobile application that ready to compete in International scale.

President Director & CEO Indosat Ooredoo, Alexander Rusli said, “Our commitment is to become foremost telecommunication operator in Indonesia and bring advantages for people.”

“Through IWIC, Indosat Ooredoo want to take Indonesia youth and youth from other part of the country to create idea and application for better Indonesia or even a better world,” added Alexander Rusli.

10th IWIC brings many categories to follow, one of it is Special Category for Women & Girls, along with Indosat Ooredoo commitment to keep supporting women empowerment through Women Connected to Mobile Internet program. Participant can send idea and application that can help women activities either in her professions or her daily activities. This category is brought to increase the number of women that connected to internet, and in the end help increase her life quality. There is also Disabled Category that starts from Indosat Ooredoo spirit to bring digital world for all, including to people with special needs.

Besides, there are also Kids, Teens, University Student and Public, and Developers Category that can be followed by participant base on their age range. All category will compete for idea and publication in the field of Communications, Lifestyle, and Education, Multimedia & Games; Utility (tools, security, ideas/apps for disabled); Tourism; and Social Innovation to applied in operation system of Android, Apple, Symbian, Blackberry, and Windows Phone.

10th IWIC range of programs are roadshow to Indonesia’s college, community gathering, developer community, Indonesia Children’s Digital Feast, Hackathon, and Bootcamp towards IWIC Final. Many prizes have been prepared, which are cash money, newest gadget and scholarship chances. On the 10th IWIC event, Indosat Ooredoo collaborates with Kompas Gramedia, Tech in Asia, Dicoding, HarukaEdu, Cody’s App Academy and Yayasan Cendikia Indosat.

Besides IWIC, Indosat Ooredoo also has a series of program that supports Indonesia’s startup. Which are Ideabox, business incubator for startup that is ready to market its product through mentoring program and also funding from SB-ISAT Fund worth US$ 50 Million that’s ready to fund local startup with a perfect business prospect.
