INDOSAT OOREDOO HAS SUCCESSFULLY MIGRATED STARONE CUSTOMERS
Jakarta, July 4, 2015 - PT Indosat Tbk ("Indosat"), a part of Ooredoo group, has discontinued CDMA service of StarOne on June 30, 2015 and has sucessfully migrated its customers. Previously, the service had been gradually stopped by IndosatOoredoo in Indonesia since end of 2015 and officially discontinued on June 30, 2015.
Discontinuation of StarOne service was done related to the Ministry of Communications and Informatics decree No. 30 year of 2014 on aligment of radio frequency 800 MHz for Cellular Network Deployment September 10, 2014 ("PM No. 30/2014") and the Ministry of Communications and Informatics decree No. 799 year of 2014 on Cellular Network Deployment of 800 MHz to PT Indosat Tbk on September 12, 2014 ("KM No. 799/2014"). Both of the minister decrees were meant so that radio frequency allocation of 800MHz can be used for bigger usage, which is for cellular service. Therefore Indosat Ooredoo has to discontinue Starone service which is CDMA based. Consequences from the decree, Indosat can give even more variations to the service with many cellular innovations (Matrix, Mentari Ooredoo and IM3) with new technology upon the addition in radio frequency allocation.
"On behalf of the management, we'd like to say a massive thank you for the loyalty of Starone users. Hopefully StarOne users will still be loyal to IndosatOoredoo through service transition mechanism from CDMA to GSM based service," said John M. Thompson, Director & Chief Technology Officer Indosat Ooredoo.
Related to Starone service discontinuation, Indosat Ooredoo gives compensation to loyalists in the form of GSM SIM Card, Call Forwarding facility, and IndosatOoredoo Dompetku credits that depends on loyalist's average Starone usage in 3 months. Dompetku credits can be drawn in the form of cash at the nearest Indosat counter or can be used for shopping at paticipating partners of Indosat
Indosat Ooredoo has announced Starone service discontinuation to the customers through the media, such as mass media, SMS blast, and website Indosat Ooredoo since the beginning of the year.
