Jakarta, December 26th, 2014 - Indosat Ooredoo has been ready in service for the customer's need of communication on Christmas 2014 and New Year 2015 by improving its network quality and capacity, in which it usually coincides with the year-end holiday and causes higher telecommunication traffic. By keeping its network performance, Indosat Ooredoo ensures the customer' communication fluency and comfort without giving an significant obstacle.
"Facing Christmas 2014 and New Year 2015, as well as the year-end holidays, Indosat Ooredoo has prepared the service capacity which fits to the estimated traffic increase in said periods. It is the form of our commitment to ensure the customers still get the best possible experience using Indosat Ooredoo's service as well as the absence of constraint to communicate. This year Indosat Ooredoo has completed the modernization of its network in 23 cities to increase the signal strength, the broader signal coverage and the better data services," said Adrian Prasanto, Division Head of Public Relations.
Indosat Ooredoo undertakes various anticipation of traffic increase through increasing network capacity and network optimization in areas with heavy traffic during Christmas, New Year and the year-end holidays.
Increasing Network Capacity
Anticipating the traffic increase during Christmas 2013, New Year 2014 and this year-end holiday, Indosat Ooredoo increases the capacity of all telecommunication services either in voice, text, or data. For the voice traffic capacity, Indosat Ooredoo increases it to 2,340 million minutes / day (39 million Erlang / day), for SMS capacity increased to 1,285 billion SMS / day, while for the data, Indosat Ooredoo increases the capacity to 1075 terabytes / day. Nationally, until the third quarter of 2014, Indosat Ooredoo had served 54.2 million customers, supported by a total of 37,382 BTS.
"The increase of capacity is based on the experiences of telecommunication traffic in Christmas, New Year and the year-end holidays in the previous years as well as the estimated traffic increase in this year so that the capacity is expected to anticipate the occurred traffic increase. On Christmas day, last December 25, 2014, the national voice traffic was increased by 5.13%, 40.89% rose in data traffic and 12.76 rose in SMS traffic compared to daily traffic," added Adrian Prasanto.
In addition, Indosat Ooredoo also monitors the network performance during the said traffic increase's periods through the operation of the Command Center, which operates 24 hours a day with the ability to detect and handle network interruptions that is fast and nationally integrated in the control center, Jakarta. The Command Center will start the operation on December 24 - 25, 2014 and December 31, 2014 - January 1, 2015.
Network modernization and Super 4G LTE
The efforts to improve the Indosat Ooredoo's network preparation to face Christmas, New Year and the year-end holidays, are also supported by the network modernization program that has taken place in 23 cities in Indonesia. This network modernization gives the signal strength, a broader range and better data services.
Indosat Ooredoo also has officially launched the Super 4G-LTE network commercially to answer the public demand for high speed internet service in Indonesia on last December 22. In early stage, the high speed internet services with Super 4G-LTE technology can only be enjoyed in several locations in Jakarta. Furthermore, we will expand the Super 4G-LTE network gradually throughout Jakarta areas and other cities. Previously, Indosat Ooredoo has introduced Super 4G-LTE network with speed up to 185 Mbps on Indosat Ooredoo's anniversary last month.
