24 Hours Marathon of Mobile Apps Competition "Light Me Up" Best App in IWIC 8 Hackathon
October 5, 2014 – "Light Me Up” wireless app from Firman Azhari and Tera Harsa from Bandung becomes the Number 1 app in IWIC 8 Hackathon, a 24–hour marathon mobile app competition which is held from Friday, 3 October – Saturday, 4 October 2014 in Indosat building, Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, "V Lens" app made by Herdian Prakasa, Hendrawan, and Peterleon got the second place and "Helping Nurse" from Gino got the third place.
This Hackathon was held as a part of Indosat Wireless Innovation Contest (IWIC) 8 program. The competition was attended by 130 participants divided into 51 teams where each team consists of 1–4 persons. The participants were mostly young developers, local startups, and youths from Jabodetabek, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Surabaya, until Lampung. Participants were asked to pick one from 3 categories to develop an app: 1) Communication, Lifestyle, Education 2) Multimedia, Games and 3) Utilities (tools, security).
Hackathon started Friday, 3 October 2014 at 4.30 pm and ended Saturday, 4 October 2014 at the same time. For 24 hours, each team worked hard to create an app, present it and show the demo in front of the juries. Because it was a non-stop 24-hour event, Indosat provided comfort to every team with foods, drinks, resting place, praying room, doctors, and so many entertainments.
The participants were so enthusiastic in creating their apps before presenting it to the panels. The atmosphere was dynamic and challenging, because all participants want to be the best. The panels itself consist of Indosat Team, Founder Institute, Harukaedu, and Kompas Gramedia.
"We are very proud of their enthusiasm for accepting the 24–hour non-stop challenge to create a mobile app. It is very exciting and so many good apps are created. But we have to choose just 3 as the best apps. This event is a proof that we have a lot of young innovators who can create good and important apps for the society," said Fuad Fachroeddin, Group Head of Indosat Corporate Communications.
The participants who managed to become the Best in this event took home a total prize of tens of millions of rupiahs, new gadgets, Dompetku credit balance and certificate. The appreciation also went to all participants who had worked hard to create an app in just 24 hours. Their applications in this Hackathon event will compete once again in IWIC 8.
